Product Talk Daily: Get specific when generating assumptions.
Whole solution assumptions lead us astray.
1. Short-Form Video: Get specific when generating assumptions.
When teams are new to generating assumptions they tend to generate whole solution assumptions like: "Our customer wants to use our ATM machine."
The problem with this type of assumption is that it's hard to test without testing the whole idea. The key to faster assumption testing is to generate specific assumptions. We can do this by breaking these whole solution assumptions into more specific assumptions.
For example:
Our customer needs cash.
Our customers know they can get cash from an ATM machine.
Our customers know where to find our ATM machine.
Our customer has their ATM card with them when they need cash.
And so on.
We teach teams how to enumerate specific assumptions that are easy to test in our Identifying Hidden Assumptions course. Come join us!

Adversarial Interoperability by Cory Doctorow
"Adversarial interoperability" is the practice of creating a new product or service that plugs into existing ones without the permission of the companies that make them. This post is a collection of resources about adversarial interoperability and definitely worth checking out if you're concerned about the role of Big Tech and would like to consider how to re-decentralize the internet.
